Eulala Crum O'Dell

Eulala Crum O'Dell passed away at her home Sunday, January 24, 2010, at 3:12 a.m. after a lengthy illness. She was 83 and had been a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church for a great many of those years.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 25 years W. M. "Budge" O'Dell.

She is survived by her son Joy Drew O'Dell and wife Cathy; daughter Jan O'Dell Gregg; four grandchildren Julie C. Gregg, Joey David O'Dell and wife Lisa, Jeffery Donald O'Dell and William Bradley O'Dell, all of Newport. Bradley is currently in England studying at Cambridge University on a scholarship. She is also survived by great-grandchildren Sara and Michael Johnson and Julie and Dewayne Seay, all of Newport. Eulala had three precious great-great-grandchildren Benjamin and Ethan Johnson and Hunter Seay, all of Newport; one sister Ella Ruth James; sisters-in-law Ruby Crum, Edna Crum, Kay O'Dell, Kathleen O'Dell, and Loretta Barnes, all of Newport; Sally Crum of Walland, TN; and several nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors. She is also survived by special extended family members Kim Huff of Dandridge, Joel, Charles, and Katura Gregg of Newport, and David Gregg and wife  Emily of Lebanon, TN.

She was also preceded in death by her parents P. N. Crum, Sr. and Ella Caldwell Crum; sisters Argell Britt, Lavada Ball, Reppie Crum, Mae O'Dell, and infant sister Roxy Crum; brothers P. N. Crum, Jr., Roy Crum, Lester Crum, John F. Crum, Troy Crum, and Fred Crum, and very special friend Wayne Lowery.

The family would like to thank and make special mention of "several Angels here on Earth:" Betty Wines and Barbara Crum, devoted caregivers; Charlie Grooms, Danese Ball, and Abby Provencal, the most compassionate nurses for all their help in providing comfort at home; also Chaplain Scott Gorrell for his comforting words and prayers (Smoky Mountain Home Health and Hospice). Eulala received the best care from all, which made her transition much easier.

The family received friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, January 25, 2010, in Manes Funeral Home Chapel with funeral services following at 8:00 p.m. with Rev. Michael Johnson and Rev. Scott Gorrell officiating.

Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 26, 2010, in the Mantooth Cemetery.
