James E. (Gene) Laymon, age 62, of Newport, passed away
Sunday, November 15, 2009.
He was a veteran of Vietnam, serving in the U. S. Army,
and was the type of person that would give you the shirt off his back.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jimmy and Mildred
Layman.
He is survived by his daughter and special son-in-law
Charity and Tuan M. Fine; son Corey Blake Laymon; granddaughter Keelie RaShaye
Fine; special nephew Steve McMahan; brothers and sisters Earl McMahan and wife
Wilma; Kate Conley, Wilma Arwood, Reva Dean Ward, Vondle Cox and husband Joe,
Bill Layman and wife Carolyn, Paulette Cureton and husband Sam, Tony Layman and
wife Karen, and Gary Layman; former wife Alicia (Cricket) Layman; special
friends Jerry and Sharon Bryant, Alfred (Flea) Fine, and Mike Barnes, all of
Newport.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday,
November 18, 2009, in Manes Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Scott Gorrell and
Rev. Larry Ball officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery with military
honors.
The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday,
November 17, 2009, at Manes Funeral Home.
