Charles William Smith, age 76, of Newport, passed away Thursday, November 5, 2009, at his home.

He was a member of Reidtown Community Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents Charles Wadington and Gladys Smith; sister Vivian Culotta; and great-grandchildren Adriana and Lacy Moore.

He is survived by his wife Doris Jean Smith of Newport; son Charles William Smith, Jr. of Knoxville; son and daughter-in-law Brian and Marsha Smith of San Diego, CA; daughter Roxanne Schibauer of Arizona; Vivian Kirk of Newport; Gladys Borgese of Vineland, NJ; and Brenda Lackey and husband David of Lenoir, NC; sister and brothers-in-law Shirley and Ronald Holton of Roadstown, NJ; Roxanne and Russell Paul of Gibbstown, NJ; sisters-in-law Opal Diluzio and Ruth Berger, both of Newport; Jewel Nelson of Eatonville, WA; special friends Harrison Jimenez, Vineland, NJ; Pamela Patrick, Knoxville, TN; twenty-four grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday, November 9, 2009, in Manes Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Bob Chambers, Brother J. D. Sisk, and Brother Wayne Waycaster officiating.

Interment will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 10, 2009, in Resthaven Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Monday, November 9, 2009, prior to the service.
