Cheryl Hill, 61, and her grandson Jeremy McNealy, 17, both of 750 Old Edwina
Road, in Newport, were injured Wednesday when the 2000 Impala Hill was driving
north on North Street left the side of the road, demolished a telephone pole, hit a
mailbox, clipped a retaining wall, and ran into a tree in the front yard of 575 Clifton
Heights. Both Hill and McNealy complained of neck and head pains, investigating
Patrolman Joshua Veridal told the Plain Talk. The accident occurred around 3:54
p.m., Veridal said. The patrolman also said neither alcohol nor drugs were
considered a factor in the accident. An investigation into the cause of the accident
is pending, he stated. Hill and McNealy were transported by ambulance to the
emergency room of Newport Medical Center. Above, emergency personnel from
Allied Ambulance, the Newport Fire Department, and Veridal remove Hill from the
driver's seat and place her on a stretcher.
